A precursor of Impressionism, this lover of the whims of the sky and sea left a profound mark on the artistic heritage of this Norman town. Alongside figures such as Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet and Louis-Alexandre Dubourg, he founded the Honfleur School, instilling a taste for the fine arts into the very soul of its inhabitants.
Today, Galeries Bartoux perpetuates the town’s heritage by presenting the creations of the greatest talents of our time in their 3 galleries. Like a new brushstroke on a living canvas, Honfleur shines more brightly than ever, to the rhythm of contemporary creation.
