200 years ago, the artist Eugène Boudin, king of skies, was born in Honfleur.

 

A forerunner of Impressionist painting, this lover of the whims of the sky and sea left a profound mark on the artistic heritage of the Normandy town. Alongside such great figures as Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet and Louis-Alexandre Dubourg, the painter founded the Honfleur School, instilling a taste for the fine arts into the very soul of its inhabitants.

 

Today, Galeries Bartoux perpetuates the town’s heritage by presenting the creations of the greatest talents of today and tomorrow in their three Honfleur galleries. Like a new brushstroke on a living canvas, Honfleur shines more brightly than ever, to the rhythm of contemporary creation.
