The « Bokeh » effect by artist Philip Barlow

Philip Barlow uses the codes of photography in his oil paintings by reinterpreting the Bokeheffect, which designates the blur of a photographic focus.

Through his urban landscapes where light sparkles, he wishes to “capture the moment” to highlight the symphonic brevity resulting from the encounter between light and colour.

« The figures in the landscape serve as a support and reflector for the light that falls on them. Bathed in light, I hope they become more beautiful. For me, light is the ultimate subject because it embodies the ultimate in reality »

Harmony as a philosophy, Philip Barlow wishes to remind us that in this world where cynicism is king, hope persists and that beauty surrounds us all the time.
