The metamorphosis of the pig has fascinated people since Greek antiquity, when Homer, in the Odyssey, told the story of Ulysses’ companions transformed into pigs by the magician Circe. In a biblical parable, Man is again transformed into an animal by the figure of Christ who came to announce the New Law.
If the myth of metamorphosis is so present in history, it is mainly due to the anatomical and physiological similarities between humans and animals highlighted by medicine,
St Anthony transformed the pig into an emblem of the order of hospitaliers feeding the needy. Through his works “JESUS“, the artist challenges us.
