KIKO : THE MAGIC OF ORIGAMI SCULPTED IN BRONZE

Known first and foremost as a painter, Kiko now turns to sculpture, continuing his exploration of bronze with two new works, presented exclusively at Galeries Bartoux, from his series devoted to origami.

True to his artistic language, he brings his signature characters into this new medium, giving them a fresh presence in space, caught between the lightness of folded paper and the density of bronze.

Here, the bronze is painted: just as with the origami figures themselves, colour is applied to the surface once the bronze has been cast, and Kiko thus remains true to his painter’s touch even within sculpture.

La Rêveuse aux Origamis (The Origami Dreamer) stands out for its luminous patina, conceived as earth warmed by the sun. Around the young girl, the origami figures, each dressed in a different colour, seem to take flight and breathe life into the mineral surface, like so many suspended thoughts.

La Gardienne et l’Ourson d’Origami (The Guardian and the Origami Bear) plays on an entirely different register. The face, worked in deep patinas, gradually opens into lighter tones with yellow reflections. The hat extends this chromatic balance, echoing the hues of the paper bear beside it. Between the two figures, a silent dialogue unfolds, built on closeness and trust.
