INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S RIGHTS DAY - Galeries Bartoux

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S RIGHTS DAY

March 8 is a day of awareness and mobilization dedicated to the fight for women’s rights worldwide.

We are proud to represent artists and to count among our staff inspiring, talented and visionary women, who contribute every day to making the art sector increasingly gender-balanced. Gender equality has been at the heart of our values since Galeries Bartoux was founded.

To mark this day, we’d like to highlight the story of Rose Valland, a true Resistance fighter.

This curator at the Musée du Jeu de Paume became a heroine in the shadows, making her mark on the history of modern art,

When the Nazi army arrived in Paris, she spied, blending into the background, unsuspected.
She sees and records everything: the title, artist, owner and destination of each looted work. In the aftermath of the Second World War, she saved 60,000 works of art.

Together, let’s continue to encourage women’s initiatives, increase their visibility and recognize the importance of their actions within the art world.
