RAFFAELE MINOTTO

Biography

RAFFAELE MINOTTO

Raffaele Minotto, born in 1969, is an Italian artist based in Padua. Trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he has developed a painterly practice centered on light, memory, and interior spaces. His work is now exhibited across Europe and internationally, notably through recent exhibitions such as Emersioni sensoriali in Bologna in 2024, as well as Beyond the Mirror in Beijing in 2025–2026.

His painting explores the way an image appears and reveals itself to the viewer. Through calm interior scenes, often empty, he suggests invisible presences and hints at stories without ever fixing them in place. Set tables, half-open doors, diffused light… each element evokes a suspended moment, between memory and reality, where time seems to slow down.

Light occupies a central role in his work. It moves through the compositions, highlighting certain elements, concealing others, and naturally guiding the viewer’s gaze. The image does not reveal itself immediately; it unfolds gradually, inviting slow, contemplative observation, akin to a sensory experience.

His creative process is based on a progressive construction, from drawing to painting. The image takes shape layer by layer, revealing a living and subtle materiality. Working primarily on canvas, but also on paper, Raffaele Minotto develops works that are both immersive and quiet, where light and material fully contribute to the emotional experience.
