BENJAMIN SHINE
Biography
Benjamin Shine, born in the UK in 1977, is a British artist, designer and inventor.
He has developed a multi-disciplinary creative approach aimed at challenging perceptions through original construction ideas and craftsmanship.
Shine is best known for his artworks in tulle, which revolve around the ideas of energy, impermanence and the relationship between the spiritual and the superficial.
In these artworks, the artist uses the transparent material in a variety of ways to sculpt “paintings”, large-scale installations and three-dimensional forms and objects.
Using an iron, the material is glued to a canvas, fixing each fold of the fabric that serves to define the image.
Her Flow series uses a single length of uncut tulle, which is manipulated to literally and metaphorically represent mindfulness, meditation and the notion of finding clarity in chaos.
