Lucas Thorik is a Dutch abstract artist who creates large-scale canvases by layering subtle hues to form nuanced compositions that bridge the worlds of art, design, psychology and music.
Throughout his life, Thorik has sought out authentic experiences, living and working within counter-cultures, whether immersing himself in the surf scene, building booths for design fairs or, later, DJing at the height of the techno decade.
These experiences have shaped the artist’s ethos and are evident in the raw, holistic approach he takes to his art.
Thorik seeks to expose what is real and unfiltered, its rough edges and meaning open to interpretation on closer analysis.
