AMARIST

Biography

AMARIST

Arán Lozano’s (Amarist) work stems from an intimate connection with the material. Alabaster, a stone used by ancient civilisations for thousands of years, becomes a vehicle for contemporary expression in his hands. Using this mineral material, Amarist imagines a poetic and dystopian world populated by organic forms reminiscent of fossilised water, remnants of a changing nature. Amarist calls this stone “Aqua Fossil” (liquid stone) because of its molecular composition, which contains water.

This geological fossil thus becomes a witness to a buried memory, transformed into translucent, light and luminous volumes. Beyond aesthetics, her works embody a symbolic reflection on the fragility of ecosystems and offer a poetic interpretation of the global water crisis.

In homage to her Aragonese roots, alabaster becomes a committed material, imbued with meaning. It invites us to rethink our relationship with the environment through a sensitive dialogue between material, light and memory. At the crossroads of art, design and craftsmanship, Amarist questions the imbalances of our time and subtly reveals the invisible tensions between the cultural and natural dynamics of the contemporary world.
