HUGO PONDZ
Biography

Born in 1975, Hugo Pondz is a Belgian painter. A self-taught artist and former photographer, he grew up surrounded by art before fully dedicating himself to painting. His distinctive universe draws notably on the influences of Giorgio de Chirico and Edward Hopper.
His refined landscapes explore silence, vastness and contemplation. Still swimming pools, endless horizons, architecture and open spaces are inhabited by solitary figures, creating enigmatic scenes where time seems suspended.
Working primarily with oil paint and glazing techniques, Pondz builds his compositions through a subtle balance of light, shadow and colour. Deep blues and minimalist lines shape an instantly recognisable visual identity, poised between reality and a dreamlike atmosphere.
