LYDIA KALIS
Biography

Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon from the age of 17, Lydia Kalis developed her artistic sensibility early on under the guidance of painter René Chancrin, her drawing teacher. Her journey then led her to explore a variety of creative fields, from advertising to photography and printing, enriching both her perspective and her approach to artistic creation.
After several years devoted to painting, mural decoration and trompe-l’œil in her studio in the south of France, she turned to sculpture in 2008. For five years, she trained in clay modelling at the studio of sculptor Philippe Chazot in Sarrians, in the Vaucluse region.
Sculpture then became the heart of her artistic practice. Guided by intuition and emotion, Lydia Kalis shapes her materials with spontaneity and sensitivity. Each of her creations reflects her attachment to freedom of expression, the joy of creating, and the dialogue that unfolds between the artwork and the viewer.
