HONFLEUR CELEBRATES THE ARRIVAL OF BRUNO CATALANO’S MONUMENTAL SCULPTURES
On the occasion of the inauguration of Bruno Catalano’s monumental exhibition in Honfleur, the town is welcoming several of the artist’s iconic sculptures to its historic center this summer.
Present at the opening ceremony, Honfleur’s Mayor, Nicolas Pubreuil, expressed his delight at seeing these works installed in the heart of the town. He emphasized the importance of this cultural initiative, which brings emotion, wonder, and renewed appeal to several of Honfleur’s landmark locations. This project comes at a particularly significant time, as the town is currently experiencing the temporary closure of Quai and Place Berthelot, whose reopening is expected in the coming weeks.

The Mayor also warmly thanked Galeries Bartoux for their commitment, as well as Bruno Catalano for his singular sculptures, which blend naturally into Honfleur’s landscape. He further expressed his satisfaction with the enthusiastic response the exhibition has already received from both residents and visitors.
For his part, Robert Bartoux highlighted the evident connection between Bruno Catalano’s artistic universe and the history of Honfleur. A town shaped by sailors, departures, and exploration, Honfleur embodies the very notion of travel that runs throughout the artist’s work.

Through his celebrated Travellers series, Bruno Catalano explores what every journey leaves behind within us. Their fragmented silhouettes evoke memories, encounters, absences at times, but also the transformations that shape the course of our lives. In these iconic figures, recognized around the world, each viewer is invited to project their own personal story.
The sculptures are installed in three of Honfleur’s most emblematic locations: Place de la Lieutenance, a true gateway between the town and its harbor; Quai Sainte-Catherine, at the heart of Honfleur’s maritime life; and Rue du Dauphin, where the works engage in a dialogue with the town’s heritage and vibrant daily life.
Through this open-air exhibition, Galeries Bartoux reaffirms its commitment to making contemporary art accessible to all and encouraging visitors to look at their surroundings from a fresh perspective. More than an exhibition, this encounter between art and the city offers a deeply immersive experience in which every visitor becomes, in turn, a traveler.
The exhibition can be freely discovered throughout the streets of Honfleur until 1st November 2026.
