ERIC ALFARO

Biography

ERIC ALFARO

Eric Alfaro was born in 1991 in Cuba. A graduate of the Raúl Martínez Academy of Arts, he quickly established himself on the international art scene thanks to his talent and distinctive style.

Through his paintings, he explores memory, emotion, and nature, drawing from his roots and personal experiences to develop a visual language at the intersection of abstraction and figuration. His work engages in a dialogue between the Impressionist legacy and Asian aesthetics: two very different pictorial traditions that, when brought together on canvas, create a powerful synergy. His practice revolves around the paradoxes of existence: fading beauty, energy in constant motion, and the cycles of death and renewal that shape the natural world. Through his floral compositions, he captures the ephemeral delicacy of blossoms in bloom.

As a true Monet of modern times, he develops his works based on a specific idea that he explores in a series. His style is distinguished by visible brushstrokes, controlled materiality, and a confident use of color. Gestures overlap and layers accumulate, establishing a dynamic visual rhythm. By dragging fresh paint horizontally across the surface, he creates the impression of time passing before the viewer’s eyes, infusing the work with a fleeting quality. Although often executed with swift movements and a variety of tools (palette knives or brushes of different sizes) his interventions always remain deliberate and precise.
