Mauro Corda, born in 1960, is a French sculptor of Italian origin. He uses patinas but also chrome, silver, gold and paint on his bronzes. He then experimented with other materials such as aluminium, iron, marble and terracotta.
Mauro Corda is an explorer of bodies. The latter offers a thousand possibilities to the sculptor who knows how to reveal the intensity, the magical force of the physical, without ever forgetting its misfortunes, its flaws, its vulnerabilities. In his series of contortionists, he pushes bodies into extreme positions, which his sculptures execute with a rare elegance. Fine lines, anatomical precision, Mauro Corda’s contortionists intrigue as much as they fascinate.
