The sculptures of the German artist Metis Atash combine the aesthetics of Pop Art with the traditions of conceptual art, creating unique works of art with deep spiritual meanings, but which also refer to the history of art and fashion. After graduating in political science and economics, Atash successfully ran his own investor relations consulting firm in Munich, Germany. However, in 2006, she decided to dedicate herself to her passion for art, design and fashion by creating unique sculptures covered with Swarovski crystals.Atash sculpts with fibreglass and uses acrylic paint, automotive lacquer and Swarovski crystals to decorate its pieces. All his works are subject to a multi-step process of clay modelling, molding, sanding and lacquering.
The subjects of his works are based on the spiritual being, and his sculptures are inspired by the ancient teachings of Daoism. The word DAO is expressed in its path or way of life. Daoists channel their thoughts on nature, their relationship between humanity and the cosmos, health and longevity, as well as action in inaction, that they believe to produce harmony with the universe.
Atash’s works are made to be seen as the mirror of our eternal soul. They highlight the duality of life, and the fusion between our inner and physical beings. Atash’s keen entrepreneurial spirit and business talent have led to the skyrocketing visibility of her work around the globe. Her work has been exhibited in selected galleries and exhibition halls in the United States and Europe.
